BCI Changing Faces and Facing Changes By: Robin Revier

The Broward Correctional Institute of Florida has been going through some fairly significant changes recently and could use some prayer from you prayer warriors out there!

If you are not familiar with this organization, BCI is located in Pembroke Pines on Sheridan Street, near Route 27, and is a maximum security Women's Prison, housing close to 700 inmates.

CRPC member Cindy Anderson, a long-time volunteer in the BCI Chapel Program, has assumed the position as a Chapel Coordinator and was gracious enough to fill me in on what's been happening at this facility.

Cindy, along with Charlie Rozelle, Elise Stimpson and Jill Clark, is currently finishing up the Ken Silva's 9-week course 'Share Your Faith' workshop on DVD and will follow with a 14-week EE training session in the near future.

Prayer Concerns:

The former Chaplain of BCI recently resigned due to a family need, and the State has defunded the full-time position altogether. Norman Jenkins, assistant to the Warden, has now filled that position himself, but is having difficulty getting clearance (four-week wait) from the Warden to schedule events. Please pray that Norman would be able to get clearance from the Warden to minister.

Volunteers are needed to lead worship, and there is a great opportunity for local Pastors and Knox Seminary students to preach the Word of God. Please click on the following link for application to volunteer:

I was touched by the commitment that Cindy has for these women, and the apparent beat of her heart that longs to minister to them. Truly there is nothing more beautiful than the transformation of a spirit that has been touched by God. A sincere thanks to all of the other volunteers at BCI who serve in the name of Christ. May God continue to bless your efforts!

The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
-Psalm 34:18
